JANEEMO Education
JANEEMO is involved in teaching programmes in selected Malawian and Scottish schools.
In Malawi, we are helping the next generation of farmers learn about Janeemo and other issues which affect their future.
In Scotland, we are collaborating with education body, Learning and Teaching Scotland, to develop course materials under the theme Developing Global Citizens for the new Curriculum for Excellence.
Comics
This includes a Chichewa (Malawian language) comic featuring the JANEEMOIDs, invisible characters who live in the trees and help farmers. The second edition explains the benefits of planting JANEEMO around the house and social issues identified by students such as “Danger, crocodiles in the water”. A puppet show is also being written to bring the JANEEMOIDs into the real world.

Films
In Scotland, two films have been made as the centrepiece of a teacher-led JANEEMO programme for primary and secondary schools.
The films have been produced by students of the Edinburgh College of Art documentary department.
Films have been developed with the kind support of the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute.
